Politicians are notorious for kissing babies on the campaign trail and Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is no different, averaging one baby interaction per day during the first half of the week.
He planted a smooch on baby Hudson, cradled 27-hour-old Amber and cooed at overall-clad Henry.
Peter Dutton appears to have had only one exchange with a baby - at an Assyrian New Year celebration in western Sydney - after a second opportunity in Melbourne was scuttled when the child began crying before it could be handed to the opposition leader.
Instead, Mr Dutton leaned into more mature activities, visiting an alpaca-flanked winery and the XXXX brewery, as well as covering a voter's fuel costs at the bowser.
The transaction was briefly delayed when Mr Dutton realised he'd left his wallet behind.
Hecklers of various political persuasions targeted both leaders, with the climate movement Rising Tide gatecrashing both campaigns on different days and a fringe, anti-immigrant figure taking aim at Labor.
Many pundits believed US President Donald Trump's tariff announcement would overshadow the campaign on Thursday, but the prime minister managed to wrench the spotlight back just a few hours later in one of the most memorable moments of the week.
Mr Albanese was attempting to pose for a group photo with mining union representatives when he misstepped and tumbled offstage.
The crowd gasped as he tried to grab an official's arm on the way down.
But with some help from those nearby, Mr Albanese quickly returned to his feet, all smiles.
Meanwhile, One Nation senator Pauline Hanson will try make politics into a family business after her daughter Lee launched her Tasmanian senate bid.
WHERE THE LEADERS WENT
The NT was the only jurisdiction that didn't receive a visit from either party leader.
Mr Albanese managed to hit every other state and territory, while the opposition leader gave South Australia and the ACT a miss.
The latter comes as no surprise as Mr Dutton on Monday said he would rather live overlooking the gleaming Sydney Harbour at Kirribilli House than the Canberra-based prime ministerial residence should the coalition form government.
HOW MUCH MONEY THEY SPENT
Labor's funding promises have largely been driven by health, with the prime minister offering $120 million for birthing and maternity services in northwest Sydney, $150 million for a hospital in the marginal SA seat of Boothby and $200 million to upgrade a Perth hospital.
The coalition's commitments have been comparatively more scatter-shot but with a broad focus on infrastructure.
Mr Dutton has offered $1.5 billion for the Melbourne airport rail link - at the cost of the city's proposed suburban rail loop - and $600 million to upgrade roads for resources and farming sectors.
